Art Zone: Celebrating 20th century African American graphic designers

African American graphic designers from the 20th century are front and center in Nancy Guppy’s interview with Emily Zimmerman, Director of Jacob Lawrence Gallery. Zimmerman discusses “As, Not For: Dethroning Our Absolutes,” a compelling and important traveling exhibition of printed ephemera, original works as well as reproductions, that are an authentic representation of black culture in the time that they were created. See the exhibit at two local galleries, Jacob Lawrence Gallery and Civilization’s Non-Breaking Space.
